A CLOSER LOOK
Creating a Card Game from Scratch
A strategy-forward card game designed to balance meaningful player choice with light unpredictability. The rules are easy to grasp, but the gameplay rewards planning, pattern recognition, and adaptability rather than pure luck. Drawing inspiration from the tactical structure of Rummikub and the accessibility of Uno, each session plays in approximately 20 minutes while offering depth through repeated play. Beyond mechanics, the game emphasizes unique cards and narrative potential—using visual design and thematic cues as a foundation for storytelling, world building, and future expansions. This project explores how concise systems and strong visual identity can support both strategic gameplay and imaginative play.

The game is turn based and utilizes tiered cards (1-3) and game mats. With 78 cards, designing them consisted of combining tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, and Midjourney.
